Pet Radio Show Entertains, Educates Listeners
ORLANDO, FL - Got a beagle with bad breath? A poodle who piddles on the rug? A kitty who's afraid of the dark? Now you can call PetPhones for help. PetPhones is Orlando's only local radio show devoted to pets and their people.

Every Saturday at 3pm on Newsradio 540 WFLA, animal-lover Disco Scottie and local veterinarian Dr. Rick take calls to answer animal-related medical and behavioral questions. They also have loads of fun along the way.

This isn't your typical boring talk radio. Irreverent humor, hard-edged music, unorthodox celebrity guests and no-holds-barred opinions combine to make PetPhones an unpredictable animal joyride.

"We like to think of it as animals with an attitude", says host Disco Scottie. "We certainly want to educate, but we also want to have a good time. Humor is an essential part of what we do."

Celebrity personalities are often invited into the studio to discuss their pets, and to help answer caller questions. Upcoming guests include NewsChannel 2's Shannon Hori and Fox 35 News At Ten's Donald and Janice Jones.

"Disco Scottie" is Scottie Prince, co-owner of Pookie Bros. Pet Sitting, along with his wife, Miss Kathleen, who also pitches in on the show. They are the proud parents of 13 dogs, 6 birds, 3 cats and a sugar glider. An entertainer for 15 years, Scottie is a natural in his role as host of PetPhones. From onstage performances as a guitarist to behind-the-scenes work in television production, he's done it all.

A third-generation Orlando native, Scottie has grown up with local radio and television. His musical parody and theme work has been featured on a variety of shows on Real Radio 104.1.

In the past few years, Scottie and Kathleen rescued, rehabilitated and placed over 200 dogs into new homes before starting their own pet sitting business.

"Dr. Rick" is Dr. Rick Marrinson, who has been practicing small animal medicine in Central Florida for fifteen years. A native of Oklahoma, he graduated from Oklahoma State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985.

Following graduation, Dr. Rick moved to Central Florida and began his practice career at Sanlando Springs Animal Hospital. He became a partner there in 1993. The group purchased Longwood Veterinary Clinic in 1994 and since that time the two locations have grown to include nine veterinarians.

In addition to his regular practice, Dr. Marrinson had worked extensively in emergency medicine and enjoys all aspects of internal medicine and surgery. He is a past president of the Central Florida Veterinary Association and remains an active member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
